Over the past few days I’ve been thinking about the $void and how it applies to the current state of the world as well as its overarching relationship with creation and philosophy. 

It’s funny how frequently people reference the void as the birthplace of all narratives and the way that statement ties to how eastern philosophy has viewed the void for thousands of years. In the Tao De Jing, the Tao is likened to the infinite void. This is the direct quote from the text.

“The Tao is like a well: used but never used up. It is like the eternal void: filled with infinite possibilities. It is hidden but always present. I don’t know who gave birth to it. It is older than God.”

Mankind contemplates the void with or without knowledge of its historical philosophical context. In a way our awareness of the voids existence is a fundamental building block for conscious thought. All things stem from it, and connect back to it. It existed before time itself and will continue beyond the end of time.

The art in the void community reflects its endlessness, connecting any theme to the void as a filter. In terms of memetics, that art can be expressed by the community infinitely. There is no trend that in some way can not be tied back to the void which is a testament to the void itself.

I’ve spoken previously about the current state of the world and the cloud of unknowing that surrounds the future of human civilization. With wars, advancement in technology and social structures, the world is changing too rapidly to accurately predict the full implication of these developments on human life.

So we return as we always have to staring into the void. Our default state of mind. The void doesn’t require positive or negative outcomes, it embodies both, while at the same time represents the absence of duality. Again the most fascinating aspect of the void is that the community doesn’t need knowledge of its philosophical explanation to understand what it is.

The void is and always will be an integral part of the human experience.
